Surgical Dermatology Services

We perform all of our surgical procedures in our office and some procedures require the use of local anesthesia. However, more extensive surgical procedures are referred to the appropriate specialist depending on the condition being treated.

Acne or Milia Surgery (extraction) – This procedure is commonly used to treat clogged pores

Cryotherapy (freezing) – This technique utilizes liquid nitrogen to treat benign and precancerous growths

Electrodessication (cautery) – This technique utilizes a fine wire to transmit heat through a cautery unit to treat benign growths, pre-cancers and superficial skin cancers

Incision and Drainage – This procedure is commonly used to treat an abscess or cyst

Mole Removal – This procedure is performed by either shave removal or surgical excision

Molluscum Removal – This procedure is performed using an instrument called a curette which removes material by a scraping action

Simple Excision – This is a minor surgical procedure that involves the removal of a benign or malignant growth (examples: atypical mole, cyst, skin cancer) under local anesthesia

Skin Biopsy – This procedure is performed by either a shave or punch biopsy technique

Sutures (stitches) – Various procedures involve the use of suture placement

Wart Treatment – Multiple treatment modalities are utilized for the management of warts
